Level:Experienced Non-Manager

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Current Medical Assistant license/certification
  • Proficient with computers, medical equipment, electronic medical records (EMR)

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Professional and personable with customer service and management skills
  • Familiar with medical office billing systems
  • 3-5 years of experience in Oncology specialty office
  • Phlebotomy/IV Certificate

Education

  • High School Diploma, Some College

Critical Skills

  • Ability to perform optimally in a busy, growing environment
  • Patient friendly and accommodating communication skills
  • Flexibility with an innovative and growing practice in a dynamic industry
  • 1 year of experience supervising or managing staff

CLINIC LEAD MEDICAL ASSISTANT KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all key functions and responsibilities of MEDICAL ASSISTANT and MEDICAL OFFICE RECEPTIONIST
  • Assist management in the onboarding of new Medical Assistants
  • Serve as Preceptor for newly hired Medical Assistants
  • Oversee workflow and supervise Medical Assistants in the clinic
  • Coordinate with Physicians and Management to provide staff when needed in critical areas of the clinic
  • Coordinate with Management on the approval of time off, sick calls and scheduling of staff
  • Monitors clinic for no-shows and cancellations, and manages rescheduling of all no show and cancellations, and records all correspondence in EMR.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for all patients’ procedures, and medication, and record approved and denied authorizations in OncoEMR
  • Work closely with billing to ensure timely authorizations obtained for patients Submit prescriptions to In-Office Dispensary and outside pharmacies after physician review and approval
  • Answer, route or take messages for all incoming calls during open business hours
  • Take complete info and routes new patient requests, prescription refill requests and record all patient interaction through telephone in the EMR
  • Produce reports for Management as needed
  • Coordinate with Providers to manage care of patients
  • Coordinate with Back Office staff to manager care of patients
