Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or college degree
  • Proficient with computers, medical equipment, electronic medical records (EMR)

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Professional and personable with customer service skills
  • Familiar with medical office billing systems
  • 3+ year of experience in private practice clinic

Education

  • High School Diploma, Some College

BACK OFFICE LEAD KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all key functions and responsibilities of BACK OFFICE CLERK
  • Coordinate with medical staff to ensure timely authorizations obtained for patients’ prescriptions to In-Office Dispensary and outside pharmacies after physician review and approval
  • Manage process for prior authorizations in coordination with medical staff to ensure accuracy in the medical record and efficiency in scheduling of patient visits and treatments.
  • Manage process of the intake and scheduling of new patients, verifying demographic information, insurance eligibility, and medical records prior to first visit and consultation
  • Review requests for new or changed treatment to adhere to NCCN guidelines and performs Billing Office Approval in the EMR according to policies and procedures
  • Manage Billing Office Approval process in coordination with medical staff to ensure accuracy in the medical record and efficiency in scheduling of new and changed treatments
  • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for all new patients and existing patients for every visit
  • Coordinate with Billing Department for enrolling patients in Patient Assistance programs
  • Assist patients with enrolling in Patient Assistance programs
  • Assist Billing Department with collecting and reconciling co-pays, overdue amounts and deductibles from patients
  • Assist Clinic Leads and Management with reports and projects as needed
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing statement and related issues
  • Report to additional practice locations to provide Back Office Clerk coverage as needed
