Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma and/or college degree
Proficient with computers, medical equipment, electronic medical records (EMR)
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Professional and personable with customer service skills
Familiar with medical office billing systems
1 year of experience in private practice clinic
Education
High School Diploma, Some College

BACK OFFICE CLERK KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Answer, route or take messages for all incoming calls during open business hours
Transcribe from voicemail to EMR and routes messages quickly and efficiently
Check all incoming faxes, and routes urgent/stat results appropriately, and transfer faxes to correct patient chart
Check out patients by arranging all follow up visits, coordinate treatment times with Chemo staff and set outside labs, testing and scanning appointments for patients
Remind patients of upcoming appointments, to come earl, or complete lab tests for MD
Monitor daily intake of patients for no-shows and cancellations, and calls all no show and cancellations to reschedule, and records all correspondence in EMR.
Receive calls or visits from new and prospective patients and coordinates collecting of demographic information, insurance and medical records prior to first visit and consultation
Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for all new patients and existing patients for every visit

Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for every patient visit
Coordinate with Providers and staff to schedule new patients
Obtain prior authorizations for all patients’ procedures, and medication
Record approved and denied authorizations in OncoEMR
Coordinate with medical staff to ensure timely authorizations obtained for patients’ prescriptions to In-Office Dispensary and outside pharmacies after physician review and approval
Review requests for new or changed treatment to adhere to NCCN guidelines and performs Billing Office Approval in the EMR according to policies and procedures
Assist Clinic Leads and Management with reports and projects as needed
Coordinate with billing department on authorizations and approvals of treatment and medications for patients
Coordinate with Billing Department for enrolling patients in Patient Assistance programs
Assist Billing Department with collecting co-pays, overdue amounts and deductibles from patients
Assists Management in fulfilling required reporting and submissions for Medicare and Payor audits
Perform daily, weekly and monthly EMR back up and prep for disaster plans as needed
Transcribe Provider dictation into EMR
Report to additional practice locations to provide Back Office Clerk coverage as needed
